More Stars Join Sophia Loren in Nine
Saturday, April 5th, 2008Sophia Loren has been cast in Rob Marshall’s movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Nine. The cast already has committments from Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem as well as Sophia. Now, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench are in negotiations to join the cast of Nine.
The musical is based on an Italian play written by Mario Fratti who was inspired by Federico Fellini’s film 8½. The film is about a film director Guido Contini (Javier Bardem), who’s successful but faces a mid-life crisis and romantic complexities. The women in his life include Luisa, his wife, his mistress Carla, his producer, Liliane La Fleur, his protégé Claudia and his mother (who will be played by Sophia Loren).
The screenplay for the filmis going to be written by Michael Tolkin, and it will be due to release sometime in 2009.
